We at CBN have been practicing environmentally friendly policies since long before "going green" became fashionable. The products we use and the practices we follow reflect our concern for the environment:

Johnson Wax Professional™ (now Johnson-Diversey™) products are our choice in cleaning chemicals. They are engineered to be of as mild a nature as possible, yet powerful enough to do the job at hand (toilet bowl cleaner, for example must be highly acidic to dissolve stubborn alkali deposits). Johnson's products are among the most environmentally friendly in the industry.

Johnson's state-of-the-art dispensing technologies dramatically reduce chemical overuse, control waste and increase ease of handling. Products are packaged to either facilitate recycling or to reduce landfill mass.

Ecolab provides our floor finish, containing a higher percentage of solids, saving on shipping expenses. (who wants to pay to ship unneeded water?). Ecolab also practices environmentally sound packaging, avoiding inefficient five gallon drums in favor of "bag-in-a-box" packaging.

As we were founded in 1974 during the "first" oil crisis (remember the horror of waiting in line for gas at 50 cents a gallon?), resource conservation has always been an essential part of our business. Today, our janitorial, floor care, window cleaning, and customer service staffs are routed to reduce travel, saving gasoline, reducing pollutants, and increasing efficiency.

Whenever possible, we use restroom and other paper products manufactured from recycled material.

An important part of our staff training involves the proper usage and disposal of chemicals. We don't dump used mop water in your flower beds!

For paper recycling, we recommend Arizona Center for the Blind™. They'll set up a personalized recycling program for your firm; they also provide certified destruction of confidential materials.

CBN avoids air fresheners, especially in restrooms. We prefer to clean and sanitize thoroughly to remove the causes of odors (generally biological in origin), rather than simply masking them.

Many aspects of our "Cleaning for Health" program benefit both the indoor and outdoor environment. Refer to our Health section for information on:

  • Pump sprayers and squirt bottles, not aerosols;
  • Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) use exposure is minimized;
  • No bleach or ammonia; (unnecessarily harsh and hazardous);
  • No scouring powders (to remain airborne and breathable for hours after use);
  • Microfiber dust cloths to remove dust, not just dash it about;
  • High-density micropore vacuum cleaner filters to control dust emissions down to one micron.
